Your Wedding Photography and Videography Questions Answered

Do we get Pip & Bill on our wedding day, or is there someone else or a third party you work with?

If you book with us as a wedding photography and videography duo or as two photographers, you will be working with both Bill and Pippa. If you only want videography you will be booked in with Bill, and if you are only looking for a single photographer you will either be booked with Bill or Pippa. You will know very early on who you’ll be working with, and we will be fully transparent if, for some (emergency) reason, we need to swap, or bring on an extra person to help on the day.

What are the benefits of booking you both together?

Having a photographer and videographer or two photographers on your wedding day who know how to work together, can make your day smoother and faster. There’s less doubling up on things, a more seamless timeline for the day, a larger variety of shots, as well as a straightforward joint delivery of photos and videos.

We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, planning and communication. By booking us together, you’re booking a couple who will celebrate your day with you while capturing all of the love and laughter in between. We offer individual packages for photography or videography, as well as two joint packages where you get a small discount for booking us together.

How do you prepare for a shoot, especially at a new location? What's it like to work with you before and on the wedding day?

At the very beginning of the process, we like to organise a meeting with both of you in order to find out all the nitty gritty details that you’ve got planned so far.

We offer wedding photography and wedding videography in Melbourne, however, we are also happy to travel regionally, across the country and internationally. If your wedding location is within a 75km radius of the Melbourne CBD, then we will visit the location before the wedding to scout the area. While there, we create shot lists for the photos and videos to work out the best way to shoot the day efficiently. This is included in the cost of each package.

As a couple, we maintain a high level of communication and creative collaboration between the two of us. If you’d like to get to know us better you can read on our about us page or reach out to us to grab a coffee or jump on a call as we’d love to talk to you!

What equipment will you bring with you on the Wedding day? Do you shoot film and digital?

Depending on what service(s) you have booked, we bring our cameras, tripods, lights and sound equipment. If you have booked film photography as an add-on (or are interested in doing so) we have two film types to choose from. These are 35mm and 120mm. If you have further questions, you can ask us about equipment during a free consultation.

Who edits the photos/videos? Is it outsourced or do you do it yourself?

We edit all of the photos and videos ourselves. We do all our processing with industry-standard professional software including; Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro. We don’t outsource anything to any third party in order to keep our style and quality consistent, this is also why we don’t hand over RAW images to clients. When working with us as photographers, you will receive low-quality proofs to choose which photos you want edited. From here, we will edit and deliver the final high-quality images.

How are images normally selected and processed for delivery? And approximately how many images are selected/edited?

We have a variety of wedding photography packages that suit both the time you need us for and the amount of images you want. We offer three packages that include 100, 200 and 300 photos, with the option to add on extra images as film photography.

When working with us as photographers, you will receive low-quality proofs to choose which photos you want edited. For example, if you book our smallest package, you will pick ~100 images from the day to have edited. From here, we will edit and deliver the final high-quality images. If you end up wanting more photos after the wedding, this can be discussed and extra images can be purchased.

What if I don’t want to pick which photos are edited?

That’s fair enough! It takes a bit of time and sometimes choosing can be hard! We’re more than happy to select and curate the photos ourselves, however, this will incur a small fee which varies based on the package. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to organise a free consultation with us.

Do you cull any photos before letting us pick which photos are edited?

We get rid of a small number of photos before sending you the gallery where you get to pick what gets edited. The types of photos that we cull at this stage of the process include: duplicates, closed eyes, blurred and out-of-focus photos.

Who owns the rights to the photos? Do I need permission to post the photos on social media, can I share them with guests, printing rights etc?

With the final edited images, you will have the rights to post, print, share, etc. With the proofs (the low-quality, unedited images) you don’t have permission to post, share, edit, print etc. The proofs are provided only for you to choose which images you would like edited and are not a final representation of our work, which is why we don’t permit them to be shared around or edited.

You will ultimately own the final images once they’re delivered. We will, however, reserve the right to use them for business promotion and portfolio purposes.

What types of photos are included? Getting ready shots, reception, portraits etc?

What’s included is based on each package, as well as what you’ve communicated to us that you want. We offer wedding photography packages, wedding videography packages and joint photography and videography packages. During your consultation, we will go through the “types” of wedding photos we offer and tick off what images you want from your wedding day.

What happens if we need to cancel the contract with you, and do we lose our deposit?

We can’t imagine anything worse than having to cancel your wedding day and we understand if you have to seek other arrangements.

In order to secure your booking, you need to pay a 50% deposit. If you are ultimately faced with needing to cancel your booking, we allow for a full refund of the deposit up to 4 weeks before the date.
