Headshot Photography Melbourne
Headshots can range from being a handy thing to have on file, to a career necessity. We understand that a headshot photo can change depending on your career, which is why we offer professional headshot photography that suits your professional needs.
With experience taking headshots for actors, musicians, comedians, writers and academics, we can adapt your shoot to match the goals of your headshot. Our clients have utilised their headshot photos to land casting calls, show their new colleagues a friendly face, promote their creative works and update their old LinkedIn photos.
Our headshot photography philosophy is that it should be a comfortable and fun experience. Being two people who like to be behind the camera, we understand how daunting getting a professional headshot can feel. So when you book with us, expect to be treated with care as we guide you through how to stand, fix your hair and give you a reason to smile (no “say cheese” here!).

What To Wear For A Headshot?
A few key things to keep in mind when choosing what to wear for a headshot are: dress comfortably, find items you feel confident in and wear something appropriate to your field.
Things to avoid wearing include:
Small patterns like herringbone, small checks and patterns that would be considered “busy”. This is because cameras don’t tend to like small busy patterns.
Unless appropriate for your profession, reconsider plunging necklines.
Try to avoid big flashy or metallic jewellery, shiny clothing or see-through clothing. Especially if your photographer is using flash.
Block colours like black, white or bright neon colours.
Some good tips to keep in mind before your shoot:
Search through LinkedIn or Google to find other professionals in your field and pay attention to what they’re wearing.
When going to get a headshot you should organise your day around it. For example: avoid a big night out the night before, a sweaty bike ride to work or having the shoot wedged between meetings.
Hair and Makeup Advice
Contact your photographer in advance to know if natural lighting or flash will be used as this can change what makeup styles will work best. Think about your career, your goal for the photo and how you want to be seen.
The general rule of thumb is it’s best to opt for natural makeup with reliable products you’ve used for a while. Avoid trying anything ‘new’ or ‘experimental’ unless you can test it before the day of the shoot. Full glam is perfectly ok if it’s appropriate for your profession (such as a performer), or if you’re a lover of more vintage styles.
Aim for a polished version of your everyday look that enhances your natural features.
Hair can be natural, straightened, curled or tied back. Our two major things to avoid are:
DON’T do anything ‘new’ unless tested beforehand and you know how long it’s going to take to get ready. You don’t want to be in a position where a new product has disagreed with your hair or a 30sec easy braided bun TikTok tutorial sets you up for a bad hair day.
Avoid messy hair that covers your face or looks knotted at the ends. A good tip is to bring your hairbrush with you - especially if you’re planning to bike to work that day!
